Activity monitoring software with rules everyone can read.
While a timer runs, Colabio captures periodic screenshots, classifies the apps and URLs in use, and computes an activity level. Managers can review unusual patterns. Members can see, and delete, their own captures.
Free for individuals. Team plans from $5 per seat per month on annual billing, with a free trial.
| VS Code | 2h 41m | Work |
| Chrome — stripe.com/docs | 38m | Work |
| Slack | 22m | Work |
| Chrome — figma.com | 31m | Unclassified |
Unclassified apps are listed for review. Nothing is rated productive or unproductive, and no alert fires.
What monitoring should and should not do
Monitoring earns trust when the rules are explicit: what is captured, when, who sees it, and what is never recorded. Colabio publishes those rules in its privacy policy and enforces them in the product: no keylogging, no capture when the timer is off, and capture options set per member.
Clear rules, useful signal.
Three product decisions behind Colabio's monitoring.
Periodic Screenshots
Captured during tracking, typically once per 10-minute block. Unlimited on paid plans, with retention set by tier.
App and URL Classification
Observed apps and sites are classified so reports show where time went. Classifications can be adjusted.
Unusual Activity Review
Managers see a summary of unusual patterns with the screenshots and apps for context, after the fact, not as pop-ups.
Monitoring comparison
| Capabilities | Colabio | Typical Monitoring Tools |
|---|---|---|
| Keystrokes | Counted for an activity level. Never logged as text. | Varies; some products log keystrokes. |
| Distraction Alerts | None. Unusual activity is reviewed afterwards. | Real-time alerts on some products. |
| Member Access | Members see and can delete their own screenshots. | Often manager-only. |
The Colabio commitments
Four rules for tracking that respects the people being tracked.
1. Nothing Silent
Capture happens only while a timer the member started is running, and the app shows its tracking state.
2. No Keylogging
Input events are counted, never recorded as text. This is a published policy, not a setting.
3. No Interruptions
No distraction alerts. Review happens afterwards, with context.
4. Per-Member Controls
Screen recording and AI screenshot analysis are explicit switches per member, off by default.
